I was like, wow, this is, first of all, to put it on the page, I think is incredible because this is stuff that actually happens and people relate to it and people are ashamed of some of the things that they think in their lowest, wildest moments.
And the fact that she could tell that to Jodi and Jodi just be like, oh, wow.

Oh, I cried so much at the end of the book because I do think that healing is not sexy.
Healing is very hard because healing is very mundane.
And it's very easy to want to go take ayahuasca in some apartment or in the jungle or whatever and think that,
doing this one thing one time is going to crack me open and I'll die and I can be reborn as someone healed.
Because healing is very hard.
It's very hard to choose every moment to take one step forward, not knowing what it's going to mean for you with the next step, not knowing that things are actually going to work out.
It's so mundane and boring.
