Still make a deadline, right?
But but when you don't have a deadline, that can be the hard part I remember the the first thing I ever wrote, uh uh my first uh writing gig was as the um defensive tactics columnist for officer.com, which is a law enforcement web portal and then and then later law officer dot com.
But uh I remember telling my first editor, I don't know what's wrong with me, but I I can't really write until I'm right at the deadline.
He goes, Congratulations, that means you're a writer.
You know what I mean?
Like you got you gotta have a deadline.
Or you have to have a lot of self discipline, right?
Which is what you mentioned earlier.
I do.
You know, I I wrote a book in 2016, which is what the War of Art was so good, uh so helpful for me with.
And that book was um it was a how-to book.
It's basically um it's called Gunfight, with the emphasis on the word fight.
And what it is is it's a sort of a distillation uh where you are combining shooting with uh empty-handed techniques, whether it's some
is easier from a marksmanship standpoint, but it's much more difficult when your target is not a stationary cardboard or piece of paper, right?
When it's a a living, breathing thing, he has a say if you are fighting with a gun in in arm's length, right?
So that's sort of what that was about.
So I really did like that a lot.
And and looking back ten years ago, uh I wrote that ten years ago.
I still stand by the vast majority of it.
I think it was pretty good.
