Man, you know, it wasn't during the playoffs is when we first started to get a whiff of this.
When the owner was like, hey, you got to check out from your hotel room early, no late fees.
And then there was like a mascot.
They had two mascots.
He's like, we ain't doing that.
Cutting that.
No two-way players on the road, all that stuff.
Too many players on the road.
The two-way players, yeah.
And then there was the head coach.
Was it Tiago Splitter?
Was he the one?
Did an amazing job.
Absolutely.
Because remember, the actual head coach was Chauncey Billups, who was playing those poker games.
Right?
So Splitter comes in.
and guides his team to the playoffs and yet and and then he gets low-balled they were like college coaches uh i think we're coming in and like interviewing for the job it was really ugly wasn't it the coaches association the guy who eventually took the job i believe the salary is around a million dollars a year which is so much lower than market value and people were upset with him and he was saying look there's only 30 nba coaches and this is my shot to be one of them but it does it sets a bad
precedent for the entire profession for me I am just a huge person who believes that public funding should not be used to fund billionaires arenas it shouldn't and I know he doesn't own the arena the Paul Allen family gifted the city of Portland the arena last year for a dollar right which is supposedly an act of goodwill but that place has been falling apart for years
So if you hand someone an asset that needs, they're projecting $600 million in repairs, telling the city, hey, it's your problem now, and having the new owner come in and say, oh, you gotta pay up, it's your arena, that's not a gift.
