There was a sexual motive to her murder.
Partly because her body was found naked.
And she said she was unable to find.
As the coroner had in two thousand and seven.
That Simone's cause of death was most likely suffocation or asphyxia.
She felt there wasn't the evidence to support that conclusion.
Coroner O'Sullivan said instead that a cause of death couldn't be determined.
The finding completely undermined the whole police theory of what happened to Simone, that she was killed in the van in the caravan park by Toby, who was then helped by either Catron or Jens, or both, to move her body through a fence into the bocci court across the road.
The coroner went further with these findings.
In stark contrast to the police theory of what happened, she found the involvement of Catherine Sukfull and Jens Martin to be quote,
Unlikely.
She added that it would be exceedingly difficult for a person to find the hole in the bochi court fence in the dark if they weren't aware of it beforehand.
And what about Toby?
Toby's legal team wanted the coroner to find it very unlikely he was involved.
But Coroner O'Sullivan said the evidence didn't allow this.
Instead, she found it was unlikely that Toby could have acted alone in killing Simone and disposing of her body.
Given the coroner's findings on Catherine and Jens as unlikely participants, that suggests either Toby had help from a local, or it's also unlikely that Toby was involved.
It all amounted to a remarkable rejection of the central police theory on how Simone died.
As for Toby's lies.
The coroner stated it remained controversial what to make of them.
