Simone's black top.
The black top was found by a member of the public at about five thirty in the morning after Simone disappeared.
It was near that roundabout where witnesses said they saw Simone.
Between the caravan park and the bochi courts.
It was the top she'd been wearing that night before she walked away.
In twenty nineteen.
German police found a piece of evidence on the top that stands out to me as the biggest potential breakthrough of all the evidence reviewed by the coroner.
A DNA profile from an unknown male.
It's not Toby, Jens, or any of the alleged confessors who were in the area that night.
They even tested the person who found the top.
And it's not theirs either.
The unknown DNA profile is one of the things that the coroner has asked the Cold Case Unit to focus on when it reviews the case.
Could that DNA belong to Simone's killer?
These days, police can use some forensic genealogy databases to test DNA profiles and try to link them to family groups.
Maybe that could help find out whose DNA is on the black top.
