He had always wanted to go there.

Grew up watching like Marty Stauffer and Wild America and a bunch of like Mutual of Omaha shows or whatever, nature shows.

And he always wanted to go there.

So he had an opportunity to go there.

He was in law enforcement and he had opportunity to go there and be the chief of police or in a small city called Kotzebue, which is 33 miles above the Arctic Circle.

Uh, so he got up there, he got up there, got established.

My parents are divorced by the way.

That's, that's why I talk about two different places.

Yeah.

It's a small place.

It's the hub city for the area.

Um, and it's a town that's basically on a sandbar.

Um, and it is about half a mile wide and about two miles long.

uh you look at a population population in the winter time we're about 1500 people back then i don't know what it is nowadays okay um uh and in the summer time you can get up to 3000 with all the hunters and everything to come in um but yeah he had an opportunity to move there uh he got up there got established you know uh i was down in savannah being a being a little brat and running around my camaro and you know tearing up the roads and stuff and trying to get in trouble and running from the cops and uh

know it was like uh you need to go live with your dad for a while so uh yeah i i moved up to kotzebue total culture shock uh went from running the streets in the camaro to now i'm driving a four-wheeler down the dirt roads you know of kotzebue so yeah yeah it was definitely uh definitely different um but after a while man it was it was awesome to grow up in in a place where you

If you want to go fishing anytime, you just go fishing.

If you want to go camping, you just walk out your front door and go camping.

You can't really do that down here anymore.
