Yeah, no, I kind of fell into sports.
When I moved to Spain, I just immediately started writing about football.
I still play football, still play five-a-side or try to, but I'd always been a huge Liverpool fan and stuff, always interested in sport.
But my background is in features.
But I've written on rugby and golf and things like that, other interests.
But with the passing of every year, I'm more and more into soccer.
I love it because the stories are so good.
You don't get those kind of stories in other sports or they're very hard to find.
I write mainly on kind of feature aspects of football, so stuff on corruption and that.
I wasn't rushing to do another book after the classical one because it's such an undertaking.
and was making radio documentaries and um but i i had the idea for for when i got this idea for the book on hh because of the the doping aspect the investigation said yeah there's such a good story here but um it was it's still a slog like six years uh it took to write research and write the manuscript
I'd love to do another book but it's just such a huge undertaking because you know the day job is as a journalist and you're trying to fit it in around your family commitments as well and stuff so it's not it's not easy and like radio documentaries or working on a podcast at the moment a podcast story they're easier or they're they're not as um a big an undertaking and
They're also more social.
You're working with producers and stuff like that.
Books are so solitary, bar the interviews, which are great, great crack, great fun.
But it's mainly you and this mad obsession.
Yeah, yeah.
Pain in the backside, doing those end notes, because I was taking notes all the way through, like, you know, you can imagine folders of notes.
But I was annotating some of them and not others.
So when I did go to do the end notes, it took weeks and weeks just to do that thing.
