I filled up on gas just this week.
I definitely know we are paying higher gas prices.
But when you think about what was once upon a time a major supply shock to the United States, we could be paying a lot higher gas prices we have in the past in different conflicts, even in recent memory with Ukraine and Russia.
So if I had a surprise on this, it's how effective the president has been able to
to manage the market through expectations, through rhetoric, through statements, and some of the domestic steps that have been taken here to try to give us at least a little bit of downward pressure on prices, that gives him more runway.
As you said, unless you turn back hot and prices go back up out of fear and people turn against continuing military operations, if you can keep this blockade up,
and combine it with other economic pressure, maybe some covert operations, maybe some cyber warfare, he's in a sweet spot, and he's keeping oil prices below crisis point.
Yeah, I mean, let's unpack that a little bit.
Obviously, let's look at force posture first and what you can and can't do.
We're operating right now with two carrier strike groups, you know, call it one and a half.
You know, if you think before it is sort of monitoring Red Sea, staking out a position to make sure that east west pipeline corridor that is giving relief that we I think is understated.
and not understood as well in the market crisis.
A third of the oil that normally comes out of the Strait of Hormuz is flowing right now because of two pipelines, the biggest one being the Saudi East-West pipeline that dumps into the Red Sea at Yanbu, and the other one that is a UAE pipeline that goes down to Fajira and bypasses the Strait of Hormuz, a smaller one.
Both of those are at max capacity.
Obviously, if the Iranians were to and they have done this, if they continue to try to attack the pipeline, if they tried to attack Yanbu, you want counter missile defense, counter drone defense in place there since it is a large relief valve at the moment.
But you are now bringing in a third carrier strike group.
The H.W.
Bush should be on station as soon as tomorrow.
It has already now taken operational control by Central Command moving through the Indian Ocean.
So that means it's bringing with it the rest of its carrier strike group.
