Where are we going?
What are we moving towards?
Our politicians don't even have the guts to say, because it's not... It'd be weird, wouldn't it, if somebody stood up and said, ladies and gentlemen, this is the United Kingdom, and I believe this is our future, and this is what we're going to move towards.
I mean...
You should be able to say this is an enterprise that's engaged in good faith.
Were there historical mistakes?
Yes, people have made mistakes, but some of it bad.
Yes, some of history is really nasty.
Can we say, despite all of that, this is where we want the country to go?
Yes, we should be able to.
At an individual level, people should also be able to say, this is what I want my life to be about, and then have the fortitude to fight against it.
But if everything is a potential crime, it's hard to express that publicly.
I want to get married and have children.
Oh, so heteronormative, are you?
So you hate gays then?
Oh, you want to have children, so you want to increase your carbon footprint.
The cell that we sit in of acceptable attitudes and behaviour is getting smaller and smaller, not year by year, but month by month.
So I leave the UK and I come back and I'm like the cell shrunk.
Which is narcissistic abuse as well, by the way.
And I've seen it.
