In reality it gets its mechanics just slightly wrong.
You've got a young bird and it comes to lay its first egg and it releases more than one egg yolk.
So it's the ovicle coming out of the ovaries and there's two egg yolks which are released, so two ovicles released at the top of the oviduct.
With a hen it takes about 20 hours for it to descend down the oviduct.
So in that process, those two egg yolks go down the oviduct, and at the end, which is quite natural, it forms a shell around the egg, and out pops a rather large egg with two egg yolks in it.
