And he is grimly satisfied when Marta's boss approaches their table and taps her on the shoulder.

She stands.

She follows her boss to the stage, but not before she gently places her hand on the customer's shoulder and then the server's shoulder.

And as Toby sneaks out, he reminds himself that it is entirely Marta's call on how she lives her life.

But this does not keep him from feeling despondent.
