So there is a deadline coming up if you don't file tax returns, but you either get veterans benefits or SSI, Supplemental Security Income. matched

and you have a dependent child living with you, then it's important to go to the non-filers tool at irs.gov slash coronavirus and enter the information about that dependent because the IRS doesn't necessarily know that you have a child living with you. matched

And so you might not be able to get that $500 until next year if you don't do it by May 5th. matched

And so it's basically, and there's hundreds of thousands of people who are in this situation where they don't file tax returns, they have children, matched

who are living in the home with them, and they need to just go and basically tell the IRS, no, this is the child who lives with me. matched

Please send $500 for that child. matched

And it's a pretty simple form to do, but it's something that can be a little bit daunting or a little bit confusing if you're someone who doesn't file taxes, but you do already have these federal benefits set up coming into your accounts. matched

There are definitely some issues that are popping up.

I've been hearing from a bunch of people who didn't get the money and don't understand why, but then also people who can see that the money was paid but went to a bank account they don't know.

Yeah, money is getting out the door much faster.

So in 2008, the Congress approved the version of this in February, and the first payments went out for the end of April.

This time around, the president signed this at the end of March, and we've got the first payments in bank accounts by April 15th.

So by any measure, they are getting a lot of money out the door, not instantly, but a lot faster than they have in the past.
