He's the Vice Chair for Addiction Psychiatry at Wheel Cornell Medicine, medical director of the NBA's anti drug program, and founder of a groundbreaking initiative focused on reducing the stigma around addiction.
He's also the author of multiple books and host of the Thriving with Addiction Podcast.
Today we're talking about addiction, trauma, athletes, adolescents, stigma, recovery, and whether we're approaching this crisis all wrong.
Doctor, what made you choose addiction psychiatry over any other area of medicine?
That's great.
Um, you know, I always tell people if if you uh
That's uh therapy is something you get to do, not something you have to do.
There is no stigma in
uh twenty twenty six.
That's ridiculous.
I mean, but then again, you know, uh you know, I spend my time, you know, or the majority of my life in LA.
Then you go to New York and it's like, Yeah, that's not a problem there.
But the flyover states sometimes it is an issue and I forget that.
I don't know if this is true.
And uh but I'm gonna say it anyway.
