Often get this like
You these if you Google Redshank you'd see silhouettes of them on a fence post somewhere in some wet sort of callow land somewhere or up in Scotland or on Macker or something like that and it they're just they're fantastic and in the early spring where they're territorial and they're singing and they're mating and they're going through all that like they're really they're just
they're amazing and they're just connected so much to the landscape.
It's it's it's it's really tricky.
And then you go further towards the coastlines and you get more specialized ones like the Eyster Catcher.
And we're gonna talk about those I know in Bird of the Week.
So we'll we'll sort of skip past those.
But really
uh in terms of the breed and watery IP, it's uh a lot of the same things actions we can take for curloo trickles down and it will suit the ecology of the other waders we're talking about as well.
So if we can sort of fix you know, fix things for one, it'll it'll work for the others.
So I think we've summarised the issue well there and what Owen Murphy and his team in the Breed and Weather EIP are trying to tackle uh or be part of this solution to what's ahead of us here in Ireland.
And I think let's just go over to the interview now and and hear about how they're getting on and and what it is they're seeing on the ground and how the season's going for them.
In bird terms, you have to be looking at trends over like long periods.
We're talking fifteen, twenty years, not I mean not two or three years.
That means very little actually.
Absolutely.
And I spoke to Una Fitzpatrick at a a thing I met her at last week and Una Fitzpatrick obviously is all her in pollinator plan and and and the National Biodiversity Data Center.
And I said to her, Una, I says, The pollinator plan, like, you know, it's it's fabulous.
Like it's going, you know, over a decade now.
And I says, Is it time now to ha you know, you can move on now?
