When I'm Rico Love, the songwriter, all I have time to think about is how I make the best music.
And then afterwards, immediately after, because I've been self-managed for the past 10 years, immediately after I have to think about where do these songs go and what's the purpose of this particular session and how does agreement work when I do all these things.
So I don't want to discredit the business of it, because the business is so important.
But I think that a writer and a creative is so blessed when they have a pit bull on their team, when they can say,
I can just write.
When I had Danny Dominguez and Greg Frankel side by side working in them offices, literally every Tuesday Danny would come to the studio and he'd pick up whatever I did from that Sunday, Monday, and he'd pick it up, he would pack, he would fly to New York because he was very emphatic about playing the records for the executives in their face.
No, it wasn't that we fell out of anything.
They decided that the business wasn't something that
them to death.
It can do that to you.
But the business can...
Nothing hurts you more than the thing you love.
It can't
unless you love it.
So I think that because we are so passionate about the art and we're so passionate about what happens to creatives, two things can hurt you when somebody doesn't listen.
