And then almost in the same breath, they'd make some qualification or confess to hiding a purchase themselves.
And I get it.
It's a big question with answers that sound a lot like, I don't know, well, it depends.
Like most people told me that if you're just dating, then no, you don't have to tell your partner how much debt you have or justify why you spent $200 on a new gadget.
But when you're till death do us part kind of serious, then those little white lies can feel less harmless and more like a referendum on the whole relationship.
And that got me wondering, when couples split up, how often are financial secrets part of that story?
I called up someone who's seen just about every version of how this plays out.

Like what are the financial lies that just show up over and over again?

Why do you think people, this is maybe a silly question, but why do you think people lie?
You're like, yes, that is a silly question.
But do you think there are cases where people are hiding the money and they actually don't think it's a big deal?
