It was minutes.
But if I'd gotten locked in,
Who knows what would have happened to that pasta?
And this is a common thing for people who get into hyper-focus.
It happens, they don't even realize it's gonna happen.
They're in the middle of something and boom, they're in something else.
Just as a funny story, I've had this happen with clients where they're about to meet with me and then they get into something and then all of a sudden they're like, oh my goodness, oh my goodness, I almost forgot.
And it just, it happens.
It happens when we get into hyper-focus, it can be really, really hard to break ourself away and do something else, even if we really want to do the other thing, right?
we're at work, we really, really want to get home to our kids, but we just can't seem to stop.
So it's not that great sometimes, that's what I'm trying to say.
If you've ever been in hyper focus or been in the zone, you know what I'm talking about.
Now, that being said, I think hyper focus can also be really helpful when there's something that needs to get done.
So
What I'm describing is like anything in life, hyperfocus isn't good and it's not bad.
The only problem with hyperfocus is when it happens without our intention.
So if it's choosing for you instead of you choosing it, that's where the problem is.
It's when we move into hyper focus unintentionally when we don't want to.
When I'm in the middle of making pasta and all of a sudden I get into a project, I don't want to be in another project then.
And that's why it's a problem.
