Like it's, I remember there was one year I was coaching where,
like we felt like we could beat any team in the competition except the team that came seventh like for some reason we just mashed up really poorly with them and it was just one of those ones where like I know this is going to be a fight and it really was like the almost the scarring of our team it's like oh we've got to play them and they'd almost take away that 10-15 point buffer they feel like they had on them like out of talent and ability yeah it's like oh we've got to play that team they always drag us down to this level so yeah they do
So for mine, it was like, well, we've got to highlight that.
We can't hide from it.
We have to sit here and acknowledge this and say, hey, yeah, they do.
When they get us at this point, this is what tends to happen.
This is how we've addressed it in the past.
This is how we've dealt with it in the past.
Here's what we can change in the future, those types of things.
That's the sort of challenge because I don't think just not acknowledging it helps.
I think you've got to say, hey, we know what this is because if you're thinking it, they're thinking it.
Acknowledge it and say, look, I understand they're good at X, Y, and Z.
Well, and it's just the mental hump I think as well.
When you're really familiar with another team – I was on a deep dive about pre-games and post-games and all that sort of stuff and what everyone else does around the world in different sports and all these sorts of things.
And it was Canadian hockey that came up with it actually.
that highlighted that junior players, and they didn't quantify it out to seniors, so it was only the junior space, the more familiar your team was with another team, the less tactical pre-game stuff they wanted.
It's like they already knew.
They know what they run.
They know where they get you.
They don't want to talk about that.
