I mean, it was no surprise that he came in and wanted to play like that.
I mean, what I would say is as great as Carrick has done, there is a long way to go and not to take anything away from beating City and Arsenal because I don't want to do that at all.
But...
Amrim even Amrim occasionally had good results against big sides the issue that Amrim had and again it predates Amrim it goes back to Ten Hag and even Solskjaer was when teams come and defending a low block they just couldn't find a way to break them down now United's next games are Fulham at home Tottenham at home West Ham away Everton away Palace at home
Those teams are not going to play on the front foot in the way that City have tried to do and Arsenal tried to do at the Emirates.
So it's a completely different challenge.
Now, if United were to go play Fulham at Old Trafford on Sunday and win three or four because Carrick has just let them all off the leash, I think then you can start thinking, well, okay, Amrim just wasn't getting enough out of these players.
It would be interesting to see how Carrick approaches those games because this has been an issue for many United teams for years.
the best part of five or six years.
They just haven't been able to break down teams who don't want to play on the front foot.
And the next, what is that?
One, two, three, four, five games.
They've got Newcastle away on March the 4th.
So the five games before that will tell you an awful lot about what kind of changes Carrick has instilled and whether this great run of form, obviously two massive wins, can be built upon.
It should do, shouldn't it?
Not at all.
And I do think part of it is it's so hard to come from a different country and be a centre forward in the Premier League.
We talked about your piece a couple of weeks ago, didn't we, when you wrote about
Cesco and Jokeres in particular and how hard it is because you look at players like Baltimore at Newcastle is struggling a little bit even Visser who's Premier League proven has gone to Newcastle and obviously has had an injury but is struggling I think it's it's really really tough for for Jokeres and Cesco particularly at the clubs they're at and you just have to look at how it's been framed with Jokeres you know the talk for 18 months beforehand is they need a number nine to get over the line the number nine comes in the pressure on that lad's shoulders is unbelievable
Which adds to it, right?
