So I think more and more I'm starting to feel like that's a really interesting question, right?
Because what it comes down to, to me, and I said this from the very beginning when Compass started private listings and all this, I was like, this is about recruiting and retention, right?

If it is, then let's boil it down to that.
What is not legitimate about brokerages competing for agents on the basis of exclusive inventory?
And there probably isn't an answer.
And the answer could be as simple as this.
Because I've read it in some social media posts and a couple of the people are commenting on some of my posts have pointed this out.
that if you allow brokers to compete for agents on the basis of inventory, you're creating an oligopoly.
Like the small brokers have no chance.
They can't compete.
I've heard that.
Maybe that's the answer, right?
Maybe that's what it is.
But I do think it's interesting that we're having to reconsider this in 2026.
