Like someone who is going downhill, who is looking to get to his stuff, who's maybe, yeah, a little less point forward T-Mac and a little more like Orlando Magic 30 a game T-Mac sometimes.
Like you can tell kind of which side is being channeled there of the coin.
The problem for me is like all the other stuff, like the stuff he might be asked to do this year as a Washington wizard, like maybe hit like a single three is a little bit of a work in progress.
And so who he is as a ball dom potentially ball dominant star down the line and who he's asked to be out of the gate during these like first developmental years in the NBA.
they could be wildly different things and that's okay.
I'm eager to see how his game sort of balances out to potentially be both of those.
But for right now, like he's making all the really hard stuff look pretty easy.
And that to me is enough to kind of separate him as a prospect from a lot of people.
Yeah, they have a lot of prospects worth investing in and worth seeing kind of like how far they can push that atrophy rate that you mentioned, Kyle.
I think Trey is capable of being that sort of like more game manager, more activate everyone around him guard.
It's just difficult when you're coming off of like a trade that was a ding to your reputation, like sitting out the part of the season when you probably didn't want to.
Like Trey is going to want to come into the season with a lot to prove.
He certainly heard a lot about his contract that he just signed from guys like us.
But this is the problem with a deal like that.
You give over $200 million to a guard.
It's going to be hard at any point over the life of that deal to, one, trade Trae Young if you ever decide you need to do that, or even to de-emphasize him when the time comes to promote...
AJ or anyone else on that roster to give them more opportunity it's just always so much easier said than done to say hey 55 million dollar star point guard we want you to do a little bit less so that we can get this young guy doing more I worry about that part of it and they're just being enough oxygen for all of these guys to become the best versions of themselves but the best version of AJ DeBonsa looks fucking incredible just based on these early snapshots of even summer league play
I love that idea too.
I mean, it's a very different ask for a team that was in the Celtics position to compete versus one that's in Washington's position where they're still trying to prove who they are at any level.
But if he can get some of the Tatum like supplementary skills together during this time of playing off of Trey, of playing off of some of his teammates who have been in the year or two, like Jason Tatum turned into one of the most versatile forward defenders that we have in the NBA.
