Should we be so quick to say no to Willander for Shane Wright?

A lot of people responding to my tweet saying absolutely not for Willander.

And to that, I wonder if the Canucks were the team that picked Shane Wright fourth overall, a guy that could have gone first overall,

and has already put up more than 40 points in a year and already put up a 19 goal season, would they be saying no to a trade for a guy that's one year younger that was picked 11th overall in the draft?

I don't think they would.

I think they'd say, absolutely not.

We've got to get way more for Shane Wright.

So I think it's interesting.

It's, it's, you know, I don't like, I don't like trades to fast track the rebuild, but if you can find a guy that maybe is on the way out, maybe his value is being diminished and you can get a, you know, you can get a, you know, a prospect with a higher ceiling.

I think it's, it's worth the worth exploring for sure.

Yeah.

I mean, I think this is why Ryan Johnson gets paid the big bucks, right?

Like you got to figure out

what's, what is Willander going to be, right?

If Willander is going to be, you know, if he's a future top pair defenseman and Shane Wright is, you know, becomes a middling middle six center, then, then you're going to lose that deal.

But, but,

you know, this is your, your, your paid and your, you know, your, your pro scouting is paid to figure these things out.

You've got to make a bet and you've got to figure out which one of these guys is going to succeed and which one of them is not.

And, and, and we'll see, I, you know, I'm not, I'm not professing to be a Shane Wright expert, but I'm just looking at the profile and it looks like a guy that's like, geez, okay, this guy, you know, could be something pretty big.
