This time in BBC Conversations, we bring together women in South Africa to share their experiences of tackling violence.
In the past three months, the bodies of nine women have been discovered near Johannesburg.
Most were young in their twenties or thirties, and almost all had suffered extreme violence before their deaths.
The murders have sparked an outcry across the country that more needs to be done to combat violent crime against women, a problem the government itself has described as a national disaster.
I should warn you.
That later in our conversations two of our guests describe their experiences of domestic abuse.
One of the women who was killed in the recent attacks was out jogging when she disappeared.
And the police have issued a public warning for women to be careful when running in the area.
My colleague James Reynolds brought together Hanni from the Pirates Running Club in Johannesburg, and Elizabeth, another regular runner in the city.
According to the United Nations, the rate at which women are killed in South Africa is five times higher than the global average, and a twenty twenty four government report suggested that one in three women in the country had experienced violence from their partners.
We're going to hear now from two survivors of domestic abuse.

Almost everyone in South Africa agrees that more needs to be done to tackle violence against women.
This week President Cyril Ramaposa pledged to leave no stone unturned in investigating the recent deaths near Johannesburg, and said the nation must stand up for the rights, safety and dignity of women and girls.
