So I very fastidiously did some research about how to sort of, what to do to kind of patch this board so it was watertight for going into the sea.

Google told me to buy this marine grade silicon, you know, with the silicon gun and you patch the holes, which I did.

And that worked very nicely, actually.

And to buy these traction pads.

So they're like kind of grippy and they're self-adhesive.

It's the kind of thing you'd see on boat steps, you know, when you go...

do your diving and stuff, they kind of make it grippy on the steps.

I laid this out, pressed it all on, left it 24 hours to dry, went on the surf trip.

Within about five minutes, all of these traction pads had just ripped off in the sea.

And obviously, they came off in a solid, you know, kind of square.

So I was swimming off them going, I can't leave microplastics.

It's going to turn to microplastics.

Swimming after it.

And I managed to gather these three traction pads that I'd stuck on up.

but it was one of those things really frustrating things where yet again i've tried to do the right thing and to repair something and i followed all of the instructions but clearly it just didn't have good enough glue and the salt water just ripped this stuff off so it's very annoying

But it did get me thinking, I know there's been talk a few years back now about removing the VAT on repairs to make it effectively 20% cheaper to go and get something repaired.

And so in this new future or whatever, this circular economy, not sure what this report from the circular economy task force is going to say, but I would absolutely love it if they just removed VAT on repairs, value added tax on repairs.

Because what it would then mean is someone like me, instead of having to go myself and totally failing yet again, I could go take it to my local repair shop.

And it's a very fashionable and popular thing with the TV program and actually get some professionals to do it.

And it not cost me an arm and a leg.
