My residual rubbish this week comes from the fact, topically, that FlexCollect won a third award.
Just to rub salt in the wound.
Just to rub salt in my own wounds, maybe.
This award-winning initiative that hasn't convinced the government that we should be collecting it all by 2027.
This was packaging news that gave it Recycler Initiative of the Year.
And, honestly...
What I said earlier, maybe it was just simply too successful that it scared government into thinking there was suddenly going to be a flood of this material because citizens and residents around, particularly England, but across the whole of the UK, would suddenly engage with collecting their flexible plastics.
But that said, and disappointment set to one side for a second,
It was absolutely amazing.
It's a clean sweep of all of the major recycling and packaging awards for this Flexible Plastic Fund FlexCollect project.
So just a huge well done to all of those involved, including waste management companies, Suez, including the 10 local authorities, obviously, and also third sector organisations like WRAP and Recoup besides.
And of course, it was put together well.
And the fundamental glue was eco-surity.
We're going to need more over the next three years of these award-winning initiatives.
