But if I start from the future and try to define what was the past and what was the present, that math takes a long time.

And that is the basis of cryptography.

Your public key address, whether it's in Bitcoin or whether it is on your wallet or whether it is in your bank account, which is based on RSA and prime factorization, Bitcoin is based off of what's called an elliptic curve.

This is a different type of prime factorization.

It's a number to a power than saying, okay, what power, so three to what power X would be congruent with mod 12,

in mod 17 configuration right and the x must be prime and the mod 17 is going to be prime so that's what you get in the public key that's the elliptic curve it's just another form of factorization and so because it's just taking it exponential factorization so so basically that whole thing is the basis of what we call the discrete logarithm or the np hard problem

which is, in computation, it takes a really long time to be able to do that reverse equation because the only answer is a trial and error answer.

Right.

Unless there's a geometric answer.

That's right.

That's where quantum computing comes in.

So it's actually operating almost like a time machine.
