Halloween is monsters.

Exactly.

And the Day of the Dead and vampires and werewolves and Frankensteins and ghosts and skeletons.

And it's the dark side.

And they sort of had it with it going almost into some kind of ridiculous princess cosplay.

And they sort of took over their street and made it really dark, all the decorations for Halloween.

And, you know, when that happened, I was spared a lot of the sort of trick-or-treat traffic.

But I remembered back to when I was a kid and there was always a couple of kids that would be popular culture.

I think my parents, my liberal parents even dressed me as Fidel Castro one year.

He was man of the year, you know.

But that was a popular culture reference, maybe trying to win a costume contest or something at a neighborhood party.

But we all wanted to be dark.

You know, that was the whole thing back then.

And we, you know, and it was always bargaining with your parents about how much fake blood you could put, you know, on your costume and stuff.

And the pranks, you know, the sugar in the gas tanks and waxing screens, you know, and ringing doorbells and disappearing and all of that.

You know, turds in paper bags being set on fire.

All that good stuff.

It was a dark night.

It was a night of pranks.

And I'm not talking about vandalism, but good all-American fun.
