Um, we don't want we don't just want to see them wandering down the street with a Sainsbury shopping bag.

Um we don't people keep going about, oh, you know, we've got to have a bicycling monarchy like the Scandinavians.
Um I once interviewed the king in Norway and I said, Do you ride a bicycle?
He went, No, you're always going on about bicycling monarchies.
He said, I've ridden a bicycle since I was a teenager.
Um, but you know, we had this idea that uh they should somehow
be more democratic.
Well I mean the whole idea of monarchy it's not fundamentally democratic.
That's why
If you said, you know, we're gonna have a coronation in, you know, without crowns, or we I tell you what, let's just flog the crown jewels, or you know, we w why bother with the trooping the colour?
I mean, these are all things that um that people love.
They understand that that that these aren't um exercises in sort of military um uh power, um or or or or or they're not demonstrating some sort of lauding over everybody else.
I think it was a rather rather powerful moment in the in the in the king's coronation.
Um and you you see him
You know, he's sort of stripped down to his shirt, he's anointed, and then he's plonked in this throne, and then gradually has all these sort of things heaped on him.
You know, he's got sort of scepters and tunics and armals and rings and the coronation glove.
And then finally, you know, he's actually sitting, he can't move because he's got so much stuff, and then the crown goes on his head, and you get a sense of, yes, you're wearing the biggest diamond in the world.
These are priceless treasures.
