Um the next generation is gonna be uh uh the current Prince and Princess of Wales and and you know, helped by some of their elder cousins.

But I mean if you look at the sort of the working unit, uh it uh William and Catherine are uh by some margin the two youngest, their children, should their children want to do it, by the way.

I mean, there's no guarantee.

That uh George and Charlotte and Louie will necessarily uh want a uh a life of royal duty, but we we hope they do.

Um that that it it's gonna be uh it's gonna be a a challenging time.

And and and and I think we as the public we have to manage our expectations.

We have to realise that we've got a smaller royal unit, so they can't do necessarily all.

Things that we're used to the royals doing.

We can't just expect them to keep turning up to open hospitals and cut ribbons and do all that stuff because there aren't enough of them to get around.

So we we we we have to deal with that.

But I mean, overall, the the the fundamental uh role of having this this figure to whom the armed forces and the judiciary and the civil service is in charge of the honours system, all that stuff, and and is separate from government and has this soft.

It it just du it just works.

It just you've just got to see I mean I was in Washington with the the King the other day and you just see how uh watch watch the monarch addressing Congress and it's it's it just shows how it works and it's not as I said earlier, it's not rational.

We wouldn't we wouldn't create it tomorrow, but it's there and yeah, there's a perfectly respectable argument to uh to to to towards having

an elected head of state and saying that, you know, it's run its course.

Yeah.

And there's a a perfectly straightforward democratic solution to it, which is any political party could put in their manifesto at the next election, we will have a referendum on the monarchy.

Uh, see where that gets you.
