Another one that we're used to thinking about is fisheries.

There are tons of fish caught in the region, and you estimated that value too.

370 million US dollars a year.

So along with tourism and fish, we're over a billion dollars.

Okay.

So this is when it gets a little more interesting because you posit that.

That Antarctica isn't just a place with things, that Antarctica is actually providing a service.

to the world and like any service, you can put a price on that.

What has Antarctica ever done for me?

What is it?

It's interesting.

I will pay money for someone to store my crap in a storage unit.

And essentially, Antarctica is a storage unit for a lot of water in the form of ice.

And by storing that water for me and everyone else on the planet, that means that water isn't lapping up to my apartment in in Brooklyn, New York, where I am only a couple miles from.

Yeah.

So we have found value in tourism, fish, and this environmental service that it provides to all of us.

And to be clear, the way Antarctica produces this economic benefit is by staying the way it is, by not mining it or developing it, by remaining natural.
