I've talked a lot about what's wrong with the current approaches.
I I feel I should say something about what I think would be a better approach.
Well, I I have two
I I mean my first reaction to like the ashen printer thing is like, oh, okay, so
We're going to establish this technological dominance over China.
This uh intelligence explosion is gonna happen.
We're gonna be in a driver's seat.
And then we're gonna say, then we're gonna pivot and go, actually, we're nice guys.
You should like us, notwithstanding the fact that we just spent a couple of years making you hate us.
Um, and you should trust us and blah, blah, blah.
To me, the idea that we would just do this subtle and wise thing at that point is itself a a dubious assumption, just given the the how uh
in constant American foreign policy is.
We haven't we have a new president every four years.
It just it just uh so the whole idea of pursuing a single coherent strategy over multiple years uh is dubious and now you've got Trump being the guy who
uh could be in the White House when this happens.
And then we've got what I would like to turn to now, which is what would the deal look like?
Like what because you know, AI is so much harder in principle to regulate than nuclear than nuclear bombs are because of the nature of it.
And
Uh so what would we be asking for?
