I just don't see how it's going to be possible to be competitive producing in Europe for the Chinese market.

And what you see is that big European companies like Volkswagen

they're setting up 100% in China for China setups.

So the new Volkswagens they sell in China are 100% designed in China by Chinese people with Chinese suppliers.

And they're going to sell from China to the rest of the world.

So if you buy a Volkswagen in Australia or Brazil,

It'll be made in China.

And so that's one model for corporates.

For us as Brits and as Europeans and, you know, not just in Europe, in the US and Japan and South Korea and all these other places as well, we're just going to have to think a bit differently.

And we're probably going to have to rely more on our own markets and not

find it harder to be really big exporters anymore.

And I think that's going to be a big challenge.

Well, indeed.

I mean, deepening the single market is what Brussels would say.

That's Brussels' solution to pretty much everything.

It's not a bad solution, but there's reasons why it's been hard to achieve so far.

I think Europe is just going to have to become more competitive, and it's very hard to do.

If you think what's really happened, we used to live in a world where there was about 500 million people in Western Europe and the United States, and we were the modern

industrialized economy

And now 1.4 billion people in China and a whole lot more people elsewhere have joined that modern industrialized economy.
