And it it's amazing what the human condition is capable of doing if they're allowed a little bit of creative room.
Well, this may be a very personal answer, but it's long term and persistence and discipline.
Um
My mother passed away not many months ago and when she was going through her final months of uh of her disease that that was afflicting her, we were trying to determine whether, you know, she needed to be moved into a care facility or stay at home.
Well literally
In nineteen eighty seven I encouraged her to buy the S P five hundred Vanguard S P five hundred index fund.
It was a brand new thing and I had been working in indexation on the early part of my career and I just I I said, Maybe you should do this and she only had a couple thousand dollars.
But you'd be amazed how much money a couple thousand dollars turned into just by ignoring allowing it to do what it was going to do and let her live her life and do the things that she was going to do.
There she was in her own home, receiving her visitors and her family on a daily basis and being able to be anchored into that place of peace for her in her final weeks of of her life.
Specifically because she was long term investor.
She was disciplined.
She wasn't moving between this and that.
She anchored into a plan and and actually spent the good part of her life not
hyper focused on the financial markets activity and what was happening to her, but she was able to build a a full, robust life.
I think that's a lesson that a lot of us can continue to be reminded on that while there's news flow all the time that are affecting things going on.
If you stay long term and focused and you have some uh great thematic
ideas that you're um invested in, uh likely you're gonna be successful in the long term without having to be watching out all all the time, you know.
