You gotta get people to boost it. Why did the boost run out? You gotta get people to boost it. You gotta get the 4K. You gotta get people to boost it? You gotta get people to boost it. They gotta pay money. No, they gotta use their Discord. They gotta get their Discord Nitro, and then they gotta boost it so then you can, I guess, have more emotes? I think that's how that works. I think you can boost it yourself, though. You can boost it. But you don't wanna, you don't need that. I've already been doing that. You've been boosting? Well, because I want, they've already paid to get it. So you've been boosting?
You boosted in the corner? You boosted in the corner? Get a nuke in Call of Duty? That's a little teaser right there because we are, of course, sponsored by Kinetic Publishing Showcase. Not, you know, Lucy's thoughts, but also we are going to be reacting to that showcase. So right there. Boom. Right there. So I'm excited. I'm excited for everyone to see that. But we have a lot of news to get into and a lot of video game stuff to talk about. So let's just get right into it. Let's just get into it.

For now, let's begin with what is and forever will be the Roper Report. It's time for some news. Six stories today. Baker's Dozen. Wow. I like that, Kevin. Story number one. Some unfortunate news. Until Dawn and Little Nightmares 3 Studio Supermassive announces further layoffs with as many as 75 people expected to lose their jobs. This is from Matt Wales over at Eurogamer.
Supermassive, the UK studio best known for its cinematic horror games including Until Dawn, The Quarry, and the Dark Pictures anthology series, has announced more layoffs, this time affecting as many as 75 employees. "...we have made the difficult decision to begin a redundancy consultation process, which we anticipate will result in the loss of up to 75 of our colleagues."
the studio wrote in a statement shared on social media. This is a necessary step to ensure the sustainability of our company. We know this will be an incredibly difficult time for everyone, it added, and our priority throughout the process will be to provide support to all those impacted.
Today's planned redundancies mark Supermassive's third round of job cuts in the last two years. In July 2025, it announced layoffs affecting up to 36 employees, saying the move was necessary to adapt our team structure to better align with recent industry changes.
That followed confirmation of a, quote, reorganization in February 2024, which the company said would impact some of its team. While the studio statement didn't expand on that number, a report by Bloomberg claimed 150 employees had been told their jobs were at risk and that 90 redundancies were expected.
Supermassive most recently released its cinematic sci-fi horror adventure Directive 8020, the fifth entry in its Dark Picture anthology series, which launched to mixed reviews in May. That was preceded by Little Nightmares 3 last October, which saw Supermassive take over the much-loved horror series from original studio Tarsier with equally mixed results. Some sad news.
It's a tough space right now. It's a very tough space, and if you're not getting any kind of hits in at all, then this is sadly what happens because of the landscape that we live in. And it's interesting because I think a lot of people see horror as a subgenre in movies and video games that you can really find some success in. And I think, sadly, there's been a few missed opportunities from Supermassive specifically of taking over Little Nightmares 3, which was...
in hindsight not the right call because you have re-animal right here which is coming out at the same time coming at around the same time people it was a known quantity people people knew that it was the little original little nightmares people doing that so it's like okay well i mean do i really want this thing that's not from the original thing oh it's not that great i'm not gonna try it out and then on top of this this is the um you know they're the long anthology series that they've been working on but you know space horror like it didn't it didn't seem like it worked out when it came to those reviews so sadly it was just kind of like a drop in the bucket
Oh, and no, and then there's another fire. Stop it. Then that was the PlayStation one that I think was closed. But fire, fire, not sprite. There's fire. Oh, from the... Fire Walk, maybe? Something like that? No. Fire Walk, yes. Concord. Yes, Fire Walk. A lot of fires. The industry's on fire. Yeah, the industry is on fire. Yeah, no, I mean, this is such a shame. And yeah, I think losing Until Dawn 2...
That's a real pain. That's a real pain. Yeah, that's one that I kind of put, I know it's not the same thing, but I kind of put them and Dontnod in kind of the same category of developers that had this one franchise that were really, really well. And then you move on. It's like, okay, you have some success, but it's like you're floundering to try to find your one thing. And even when you go back to it, I think honestly the quarry was the closest thing.
that they had and I just I'm pretty surprised that they're like hey we're not going to try to do the quarry 2 we're not going to try to continue that maybe it's just too expensive because it's like you have to kind of get a lot of actors and kind of get people in the booth for that one but yeah I was I was very surprised that they're like hey we're going to try to make this new change in the dark pictures anthology series make it sci-fi which I don't know to me like sci-fi horror never isn't like the thing that people are necessarily looking for like unless it's really great but yeah I mean that yeah well
That was great. Like, we're awesome. Like, don't don't look at us. Right. Like, it's just it's it's just so sad, like feeling the energy within now super massive, but also just around the industry of like, these things are looming, these things are happening. And it's just a matter of time.
But story number two. Let's look at some special edition consoles. Let's take a hard left turn over here. Look at some cool, interesting special edition consoles. First, look at Marvel's Wolverine limited edition PS5 console bundle and accessories. Here it is, Lucy. You get the consoles. You get the PS5 digital edition bundle and accessories, which is the controller. I'm going to say something. Tell me. It's real unfortunate the mad cats of it all.
