We asked Zelnick if he could rule out the possibility of GTA 6 ever releasing on disc.

After Rockstar confirmed the GTA 6 no disc situation back in June, some wondered if it was in part about preventing leaks in the run-up to the game's launch.

However, speaking to IGN today, Zelnick denied security had anything to do with the decision.

I completely doubt that.
I don't really that part that part I don't I don't agree with.
I feel like that has to be part of the equation in some way, even if it's not the number one reason.
That's a very interesting thing for him to just point blank saying no to because GTA has a history of leaking and having moments where people just find find discs off the back of the truck and stuff.
Yeah, I mean GTA Six is going to be the biggest selling video game potentially of all time, right?
Like this is going to be a massive moment and it's a lot of discs to make if you're gonna be making those physical and you know that all those people have the ability to download it.
So you're of course you're giving the cut to GameStop, you're quite giving the cut to these retailers, but there's also the cut of, hey, we need to produce these discs and make that happen.
