Archbishop-designate Ronald Hicks succeeds retiring Cardinal Timothy Dolan, who has held the position since 2009.

Bishop Hicks' Vesper ceremony is set for Thursday evening, and as he told reporters, is a prayer-focused event.

Hicks was named New York's next archbishop in December by Pope Leo XIV.

The archbishop-designate will be installed at St.
