And I speak with Gardaí on a regular basis, highlight the issues, and I think they are doing their best.
But they are operating, as we've outlined, in a situation of lack of resources.
And I'm not talking about a police state.
What I'm talking about very clearly...
is that communities where we're seeing a high level of intimidation, of drug dealing going on, of gangs, which are absolutely linked to high deprivation and communities that have been in many ways neglected by the state for too long, that there needs to be a high visibility of policing to ensure that the state is saying this is not tolerated.
And also there also needs to be a higher level intervention by the Gardaí.

And then we also need at a community level, because there is, and I really, this is so important, I want to get this across.
There's such amazing work been done in Ballymun by community groups, but they are also hamstrung in terms of lack of funding.
There's amazing work been done in schools, but there's need for greater targeted resources.
We have a Ballymun implementation board, which is similar to a North East inner city.
um implementation around trying to tackle these on a long-term basis but its funding isn't there it doesn't have anything of the funding and even now is there's questions will it be wound up there is a need for targeted funding in areas like bali mon to ensure that we break that cycle of deprivation along with the increased policing targeted i'm not talking about a police state bar you know that it's about targeting are we saying that in deprived areas it's okay to allow drug gangs operate
