What I find really odd is that the clubs themselves, and there's only maybe half a dozen...
who do this reliably, haven't worked out that, one, I'm not sure this is great for the kids,
they're getting massive money thrown at them to try and entice them from one big six, one big ten club, whatever you want to call it, to another.
But two, it makes the whole environment much more...
And I'm a little bit surprised there isn't some sort of agreement between the major teams not to poach players from each other.

There might be one every so often who is such an incredible talent that they just have to have them.

And it means you're not exposing these young players and their families to the law of making decisions for immediate cash.
Yeah, I think that's absolutely right.
And it depends how you look at...
in the same ways you can look at youth development as is the purpose of having an academy to bring young players through into your first team?
Or is it to produce players who you can sell so that you can use that money to put into the first team?
There is a third way of looking at it, which is if your kid is 15 or 16 and their options are to earn X thousand pounds at the club that they're currently playing at, or they get a massive payday, as Nadim says, that transforms their lives, their family lives, sets them for life by the time they're 20.
it's really hard to turn that down.
I'm just a little bit, I'm not sure that having that amount of money sloshing around for kids is healthy for the game.
