So that part of it was really hard because at least with comedy you're writing within the boundaries of like this has to be funny.

So that limits you but it also kind of expands the possibilities because you're working within a framework

Whereas like a book, it's like, you can go on and on and on.

Yeah.

It's like a prompt.

I didn't do any of that.

Like I had no idea what the book was going to be.

I started writing.

I had a bunch of essays.

None of them made any sense.

None of them like,

i didn't know how they fit together gotcha and um and then but they were the book was done yeah like i was like we have enough here for a full book but i don't know how all of this fits together and i was like i want to bring in somebody else to like look at this and we brought in um a writer named caroline rider and she's fucking great and she's written a bunch of books um

Well, I know that most of her stuff is ghost writing.

Oh, okay, gotcha.

Well, not most of it, but like her, she's written a bunch on her own, but she's also done a lot of ghost writing.

And I was like, I don't want, you don't need to do any writing here.

We need to restructure and I need to put this in the shape of a book.

And like,

and I need to see how it can all flow together.

She helped me figure out how these stories about motherhood would lead into stories about my past.
