So that's one.
Two is that
Players feeling good about the environment and being comfortable staying in it and being motivated to stay in it.
So those two things allowed us to not have to move players, which is not always the case and quite frankly, rarely the case where you have both of those things occurring.
There's a couple of benefits.
I could go on for a while on those benefits, but the main benefits are that we do have a chance to compete.
And we believe there is a chance that we are going to compete.
We are going to be a competitive team.
And there is still a chance that we could get hot.
So that is one reason, and we can afford that.
The second reason I mentioned about...
their desire, that impacts our environment and other players around them.
So that elevates that level of competition, that spirit in the clubhouse.
And yes, is there a potential return that we could have gotten for them that would have also had value?
We felt like those two things were more important to us than that potential return.
The other thing, and just one more thing to add to that, it's smaller and could have been offset, is just keeping guys in healthy and the right positions as well around them, especially as it relates to pitching.
Yeah, I think there's not a team in baseball that wouldn't like to have Jose Soriano.
Even if you have good starting pitching, he's a very good one that I think all teams in baseball would like to acquire.
We were in a position to do it, and fortunately, our return was enough for the Anaheim Angels, and we're very glad to be in that position to have
the control behind this year of two more years.
