People who basically have a deficiency of sunlight in their daily lives tend to have higher rates of all the chronic diseases, all of which, of course, rise as you hit middle age and older age.
You know, if you're 60 or 70, there's no connection with skin cancer being caused by more time in the sun then.
But all the diseases that sunlight reduces the incidence of, so the cardiovascular diseases, the cancers, Alzheimer's, and other forms of dementia,
That is all what kicks in later on and can clearly be reduced in the moment with sun exposure.
It is.
It's actually a gorgeous late spring day out there today.
Where are you?
I'm in Vermont, so six-hour drive north of New York, not far from the Canadian border.
So this time of year, plenty of sunlight.
The other half of the year, it's hard to come by.
It certainly was.
Yeah, Vermont is, I live in the countryside.
It's probably in terms of its light regime, not so different from the UK countryside in certain places.
And I always loved it here.
We have strong winters where the skiing is great, where everything is white and where the days are very, very short.
And I've always loved winter.
I embrace it actively.
But certainly, you know, as I hit middle age,
I noticed that they always felt like more of a struggle.
And it wasn't temperature.
