And she said, oh, we're buying it.

And I was like, oh, we are?

And so we did end up buying it.

In many ways, it was kind of a literary coming home because I worked for the Rumpus for several years and I used to be an editor there many years ago.

Oh, yeah.

I actually kind of got my start there when I started to move beyond HTML Giant, which was amazing.

And my blog, the next step before I got to The Guardian was actually The Rumpus.

And many of the essays in Bad Feminist were published originally in The Rumpus.

And so it felt very full circle for me.

And so now we're running The Rumpus.

And so it has been great, A, to work with women.

And B,

To be able to pay writers well.

And we have been able to hire three staff members, which is new for The Rumpus because before this, it was primarily volunteer.

And we're doing a lot of the things that we've always dreamed we would like to be able to do with a publication.

It's modest.

It's a literary magazine.

So people should manage your expectations about pay.

But we pay $500 for prose and $200 for poetry.
