Josh, over the weekend in Germany, we saw the far right party AFD get more than forty-four percent of the vote in a state election, so the largest of any party by far. matched

As we speak, we're still waiting to find out if they'll actually be able to form government or not. matched

But tell me about how this happened. matched

So this would make the AFD the first far right party to gain power in a state election in Germany since the Second World War. matched

Can you tell me a bit more about the party and the platform that they were running on for this election? matched

And so why has the party become this popular then, particularly in this part of Germany? matched

I want to talk a bit more about what's going on in Australia at the moment. matched

But before we do, there were also these protests in Dover on the weekend in England. matched

So we saw hundreds of people wearing black face coverings, they were blocking roads, they were chanting matched

It was I suppose another example of this kind of hard right anti immigration rhetoric that we're seeing in Europe right now. matched

How did you interpret that? matched

Josh, here in Australia, we're about to see the White Australia Party, which is the political arm of the former NSN National Socialist Network, challenge laws that ban it in the High Court. matched
