And so it was kind of a thorn or a little bit for Jerry to be able to hire somebody who wasn't afraid to speak up to Pat.

Not that I ever did after that.

You got to behave.

Well, when I started, 83 as Byron referred, the position was just starting to get hold in the league.

There were no people in that position.

There was very few.

And at the Lakers at that time,

There was a guy that was working for the team at the Forum.

His name was Frank.

I can't recall his last name.

Very nice guy, but he was, you know, kind of met him.

And when the incident with Jerry and Pat Riley occurred and they hired me, you know, Jerry brought me in to work as a team attendant first, so I just worked at the forum, and then I assumed more and more duties.

And there were a few other guys throughout the league on different teams, Philadelphia, Seattle, Houston, that were having to hire full-time equipment managers.

And so it was literally, you started, like you said, carrying socks, jocks, shoes, basketballs, and whatnot, and that was it.

But as Byron knows, with Pat Riley, this thing quickly evolved.

So we started to carry video equipment.

We started to carry televisions.

And then the medical care, the health care for the team expanded as well.

It became more nuanced.

And so Gary needed to carry more equipment.
