It feels like it puts the Bears in a bind, and I don't know that that's worth giving up, obviously, the number 25 overall pick.
Yeah, and let's say maybe a second rounder, too.
So you're only going to have... You went from having a first rounder and two second rounders to having one second rounder?
and you're putting your salary cap at a bind because the quarterback's going to get paid by the end of this contract.
You see what I'm saying?
Yeah, I see what you're saying, but I completely disagree.
Okay, tell me why.
This is a difficult position to get anybody who is really good
on the defensive line.
It has been a forever problem for the Chicago Bears, and I could cite a couple examples of guys that were big-time defensive linemen that made huge differences.
Akeem Hicks once upon a time ago, especially with the 2018 Bears.
Tommy Harris back in the day.
Then you have to go back to Mongo, Steve McMichael, and you have to go back to Dan Hampton before he was on the outside.
This is a position that is hard to get right.
It is hard to find those guys.
And the Bears have been looking for this.
Yeah, I would have paid a premium price to get somebody like Dexter Lawrence to straighten out and restore order to your defensive line.
It's just such a valuable premium position.
I definitely hear you.
