I just... No, I know.
But this is one of those cases, like, if you're not going to overpay for something, or if you are going to overpay for something, it's a position like that.
Because we're talking about needing that, like, how difficult is it for the Bears?
Well, I'll tell you.
Because Zach Pickens certainly didn't work out.
Jervon Dexter...
Has not shown to be a dynamic difference maker.
Like I keep saying, and I hate that I have to say this, but Justin Jones is probably still the Bears' best three technique on Ryan Poles' watch with the Chicago Bears.
And I realize that Lawrence can kind of play all over and nose tackle, but to have that guy, yeah, that's worth assets to get a guy like that.
Maybe part of me also, though, Mark, is looking at this like, well, if you really are what you think you are at this point because of last year's draft, show me again on the defensive side of the ball that you can get the guys who can make the impact that you're talking about.
Hold on, hold on.
Ben Johnson and Dennis Allen weren't in the building when they were doing this.
And that's why I feel like that's kicking the can down the road.
How's Grady Jarrett working out?
How's Dio Dangbo working out?
Which were both on Dennis Allen's watch.
Whoa, they got hurt.
And Dexter could get hurt.
I want to know that you can actually draft defensive players who have an impact.
an actual impact and sooner rather than later a first year impact that's what this allows us to do maybe i'm looking a little too far down the road when i talk about it in that manner but i need to know that you guys know what you're doing on defense in the same way that i believe you definitely know what you're doing on offense i'll give the bears a little bit of an excuse on it because that position like it's hard it's really difficult the job is hard but but i understand that but but so
