I told her campaign to show me some polling or any evidence at all, anything, showing that she wasn't going to get blown out by 50 points.

She has raised like 400,000, I'm told, and you can do a poll for a few thousand.

The refusal to do what all other candidates do to demonstrate that their campaign is remotely serious, and apparently that's not true in congressional races that they contract polling, is unusual.

But I don't want to be responsible for people sending hard-earned money to a campaign that loses by 50 points or just show some polling that shows she can make the top two plausibly.

I'm not asking for much.

Now, to your point of how overwhelming the pressure was on them, our friend Nick Cruz responded, okay, why did you guys interview Zoran and many of these other progressive Democrats when they were down big in the beginning?

Zoran at one point was only polling 1%.

Why interview any underdog ever based on this logic?

A journalist's job is not to be a gatekeeper, but to inform people on what options they have.

You covered Marianne Williamson, Dean Phillips, and Sakat, and they all lost by damn near 50 points.

Shama Sawant's local name recognition, multiple wins in city council, fundraising, and track record should be enough to make her serious.

And then Ryan starts to climb down here.

But he also claimed that nobody reached out for an interview.

But once he saw that you had gotten the endorsement from the stranger, he said, well, that's something.

And I guess finally they went with that.

So how do you respond to that argument that because you haven't shown any polling, they don't have to interview you?
