I got a job at a little pizza place right across the street from my grandfather's store when I was about, I guess, 13, something like that.

How was that pizza?

It was called Husky Pizza, which was the name of our high school mascot.

I don't remember the pizza being great.

It's all potatoes.

But I didn't know great pizza then either.

And I also, every potato harvest had jobs because we would get out of school for a couple of weeks to harvest.

You'd get off school.

Yeah.

We would call it spud harvest.

And the first two weeks of October, we'd get out of school.

No kidding.

To go help harvest the potatoes.

Nice.

Yeah, because everybody's, you know, most of the kids were farm kids, so they needed to go work.

And so if you weren't a farm kid, you go get a job because what else are you going to do?

So, you know, 13, 14, you start going to get jobs.

And, yeah, we worked for a couple of weeks.

You start on the sorting table pulling potatoes and vines.

I wanted to get promoted to work in the field, but you really got to be blood to drive the truck and stuff like that.
