They're not the ones who are leaving a positive dent.

sports wise, I'm not like huge as a guy, six foot one, 215 pounds, uh, undersized in that world of, of my position.

What I had to then make the most of was if I can't see over guys, I need to be more agile.

I need to be faster, right?

I need to use escapability in order to be a good player.

So that in that world, podcasting, um, I, I liked the fact like when I got started 11 years ago, um,

I had zero followers on any social media.

I didn't have social media.

So we all start with zero.

And that still isn't a main thing.

But I did have a ton of repetitions interviewing in corporate America.

Now, I was interviewing to hire people both for my own team and other teams once I developed some of those skills.

And so I think it was really about understanding where I had leverage, where I had gotten some reps even before launching.

And then I had the benefit of getting a little bit lucky that I launched in the earlier days of podcast so that I could hit new and noteworthy so that more than my mom and my dad and my friends listened to it.

Because once you hit that high on the charts, again, as you know, it gives you a chance for other people to become aware of your show.

And so those first eight weeks were huge for me.

because I did the work to understand iTunes at the time, which is now Apple Podcasts.

And that was really the only place where you needed to be to learn all of that, to do all of that work.

And so my research, my willingness to cold email, my willingness to get rejected constantly, all of that, I think I turned into a skill that helped me get off to a really fast start and then just keep building the momentum from there.

Well, there's a performative nonchalance in the world, right?
