20 minutes later, I got a letter from the top lawyer at Politico demanding that I delete an 1800 word article that I wrote at TELUS yesterday that was about the way that the media has covered Trump.
I read it.
So that article Politico is demanding that I delete.
under an implied threat of legal action because they say that it violated some boilerplate language in my contract about non-disparagement.
If you read it carefully, it doesn't disparage Politico, but that's neither here nor there.
What bothers me is that
A media company that professes to champion the First Amendment above all else.
Would actually send a letter to a journalist asking them not to just maybe could you change the language on one or two things?
We disagree with it or or let us respond.
Right.
That's that's normal.
That's normal to ask for a correction or ask for a response.
But to literally demand that I delete the entire 1800 word article that is mostly a criticism of Donald Trump.
Wow.
So a little while ago, I wrote a follow up laying all of this out.
And here's the thing you'll really like, Don, because this is where it gets a little awkward.
I'm scheduled to go to the White House Correspondents Dinner with Politico on Saturday night.
As their guest.
So here's my view of this.
